PE
PE lessons will take place Monday PM.
Please ensure your child has the correct PE Kit in school and ALL items are clearly labelled with your child's name (including pumps)
WE ARE READING..........
Children will be read to by the class teacher each day after lunch for 15 minutes. We will be reading a selection of books all about superheroes. A wide variety of fiction and non-fiction books will also be used throughout each term. This will help children to develop their listening skills, introduce them to new vocabulary and will allow them to become familiar with different genres of books.
Things to Remember...
Home Reading Books
Reading books will be sent home in the first week of term and all home reading books will be matched to the phonic sounds your child has been learning. Please aim to read daily with your child.
Reading books can be changed each day but only if an adult has signed the reading record (yellow book) to say that their child has read and has finished their reading book. An owlet will be rewarded every time a child reads at home.
Children are to remember to put any books that need changing into the 'reading book changing box'.
Snack Time
Snack time takes place at morning playtime. The snack consists of a vegetable or a piece of fruit. If your child does not like the snack provided by school, a piece of fruit or vegetable snack can be sent in from home.
Water bottles
Children should bring water bottles into school each day and should be filled with water (not juice or fizzy drinks). They will be kept in a tray in the sink and the children will have access to them throughout the day.
Autumn 2- English
We will be using the book 'Supertato' for Autumn 2. Children will have many short reading and writing opportunities to develop their independent writing skills based around the book. Please see the attached reading and writing documents (KLIPs) which show the skills the children will be learning throughout the year.

Children will also be given a paper copy each week to enable them to practice writing them down. They will be tested each Friday and the new spellings will also be sent home on this day. Children will also learn additional spellings which are words that are frequently used but may not follow spefic spelling rules and patterns. These words can be found below.

Science
We will be learning about seasonal changes and weather patterns associated with each season. This will be a focus all year however we will be starting with the changes we can see as we move from autumn to winter.
Geography
We will have a blocked unit called 'Mapping Madness'. We will be learning all about a variety of different maps and create our very own messy maps.
Religious Education
Christianity – Jesus
Big Question - What do people say about God? (Our focus question for the year)
Focus Question - Why is Jesus special to Christians?
In our RE lessons, we will continue with the focus on Christianity.
This unit gives children the opportunity to explore the Christmas nativity story and to gain an understanding of why Jesus is believed to be a special baby. They should begin to think about why Christmas is a special religious time for Christians The focus of Jesus as a ‘gift’ will introduce children to the concept of the incarnation.
