Online Safety

Huncoat primary School is dedicated to keeping our children safe when online. Each child has the right to access Online sites free from harmful images, sites and cyber bullying. The Internet is a necessary and wonderful part of a child's learning - however children need to be aware of the positives of the internet and the negatives as well.

If you have any concerns about Children Online/ Cyber Bullying please contact the Head Teacher and any member of the Safeguarding Team: Mrs Dickinson, Mrs Alldritt and Mrs MacMahon

It is our job as responsible adults - in school and at home - to teach our children to use this 21st century internet/ social media/ mobile phones/ game consoles safely and appropriately for their age and for a citizen of the community. Children often have the knowledge to use such media equipment & sites but not the wisdom and as adults we often have the wisdom but not their knowledge. So it is important that keeping children safe from harm is a 2 way discussion between adult and child,

As a school and at home we need to educate our children to help them use the internet safely and enjoy being online.

Safer Internet 2021

Safer Internet 2021 - An Internet we can Trust:

We celebrated Safer Internet day 2021 through our Remote Home Learning in lockdown. We set up different learning opportunities centred around Safer Internet for the day's learning at home and different websites to help.

KS1 watched Smartie Penguin and designed posters at home

KS2 read 'Digital Goldilocks' and wrote their own story based on internet rules

Yr5 & 6 were encouraged to use bbc own it site for advice aimed at their age and their concerns

Parents: to download the National Online Safety App for guidelines

Work was sent in and collected for us all to see.

CREATE CONNECT AND SHOW RESPECT!

Our internet safety day was to raise awareness of Respect on the Internet. Parents were asked to contribute on how they wanted to make Our World more internet safe. They wrote on huge jigsaw pieces on the yard.

We linked our Huncoat Values of: Respect, Appreciation, Caring. Honesty, Determination, Co-operation and Responsibility to how we behave online.

Each class made a HUGE jigsaw piece to connect together to show how we can make the internet a safer and happier place. What a great day showing RESPECT online!
